Roosevelt Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center Launches Cardio Pulmonary Care Program

Respected Physicians Overseeing Initiative at Philadelphia Skilled Nursing Facility

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 2, 2020 – Roosevelt Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in northeast Philadelphia has launched a Cardio Pulmonary Care Program. Pulmonologist Dr. Michael Korman, MD, FACP, FCCP, and Cardiologist Dr. Scott Pfeffer, DO, FACC, are overseeing the initiative, which is designed to accommodate regional need for this specialized healthcare focus. The 240-bed skilled nursing facility provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care.

The comprehensive Cardio Pulmonary Care Program at Roosevelt aims to promote independence and quality of life through reducing symptoms and decreasing disability in heart and lung patients, while increasing their participation in physical and social activities. Services are tailored for individuals with congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, post heart and lung transplants, emphysema, acute myocardial infarctions, bypass surgeries and respiratory failure, among other diagnoses.

Dr. Korman is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary and critical care. He maintains a practice at the Mercy Philadelphia Hospital and the Mercy Wellness Center in Darby. Dr. Pfeffer is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals.

In addition to consults with Dr. Korman, Dr. Pfeffer and other board-certified specialists, Roosevelt heart and lung patients benefit from certified nurses on staff, seven days per week therapy services as prescribed, 24/7 access to lab and radiology services, pacemaker checks, and a range of additional services and therapies. Kathryn Ashby, R.N., a highly experienced cardiac care nurse, serves as the Cardio Pulmonary lead nurse.

Roosevelt developed its Cardio Pulmonary Program with Marquis Health Services, which provides nursing home consulting services for the facility. “Roosevelt is fortunate to have Dr. Korman and Dr. Pfeffer lead its cardio pulmonary initiative with Kathryn’s day-to-day support,” said Marquis’ Danielle Koons, regional sales manager. “Both doctors have excellent reputations and work closely with the entire care team to provide for the best possible outcome for each of Roosevelt’s heart and lung patients.”

Roosevelt Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center is located at 7800 Bustleton Avenue.

As part of its programming, Roosevelt offers education and training for patients and family members, and coordination of home care services – including Marquis’ CARE NAVIGATION™ program. The facility also offers 24/7 admissions direct from the emergency room.

Based in Brick, N.J., Marquis Health Services is a highly skilled and vision-driven nursing home consulting company currently supporting Mid-Atlantic and New England facilities totaling nearly 4,500 skilled nursing and assisted living beds.
